BiographY

She has been the concertmaster of Paris Conservatory Orchestra; first violin of Quartet ARTE and Européen Romantique Orchestra.

Born in Taiwan of a musician family; she started her musical education at the age of six with both piano and violin. Her brilliant performances lead to win the first prize of national competition of violin in the junior and senior section. A young talent musical scholarship was awarded by the Taiwanese Government to her to study in France. Graduated with the first prize of violin and the first prize of chamber music at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris under Gérard POULET in 1996. She achieved the outstanding musical studies with Jean-Pierre WALLEZ at the Conservatoire de Musique de Genève and obtained the first prize of virtuosity in violin with distinction and the first prize of chamber music in 2000. Awarded the ZALESKI scholarship at Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris and obtained the Diploma of Supérieur de Concertist with Devy ERLIH. She also actively participated in Master Classes with Michèle AUCLAIR, Igor OISTRAKH, Michael FRISCHENSCHLAGER, Franco GULLI, Tuomas HAATANEN, Ulf HOELCHER, Herman KREBBERS, Ruggiero RICCI and Tibor VARGA.

First prize and audience prize winner of the International Ernest Chausson Violin competition at the Avray City in 1999. She was also the prize winner of the European FLAME competition at Paris in 2000. Finalist of International Jean-Françaix Violin competition in 2002. Second prize of 7th International Gérardmer-Kichompré String competition in 2008.

She has been a soloist performed with l'Orchestre de la Suisse Romande in Geneva Ansermet Hall ; l'Orchestre Symphonique des violons d'Ingre (broadcast by Macroview satellite TV) and l'Orchestre Franco-taiwanais at Paris; Taipei Symphony Orchestra and National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra in Taipei National Concert Hall. She has been invited to the 20th summer music festival in Roma; Salzburg music festival from 2000 to 2003 and 28th music festival of K. Szymanovsky in Zacopane Poland 2005. Her concerts are regularly in France and over the world such as Austria, Finland, Germany, Italy, Japan, Poland, Spain, Switzerland and Taiwan. Laureate of Cziffra foundation and sponsored by Zaleski foundation; Arthemes Association.

Ching-Yun TU is appreciated by French and Taiwanese criticism for her brilliant technique and her great musical sensitivity.

She plays on a stunning violin, Giovanni Francesco Pressenda 1846 on loan from Chi-Mei Culture Foundation.
